A Message from Sarah Wells Rolland:
In this season of the Corona Virus, we all are called to be vessels of hope. At The Village Potters Clay Center hope is in abundance. We believe that our mission is greater than any one of us and are so proud that the work we do here so well serves our community. I’m asking you to join me as we all work for our wonderful community. I am personally embarking on a labor of love, making 500 vessels, each unique just like you, and I am asking for you to become a vessel of hope for The Village Potters Clay Center.
Making it through this season of closure is my primary job now. I have applied for multiple loans and am filled with hope for the best. In the meantime, I will be at the wheel making 500 Vessels of Hope for the next 12-16 weeks, and glazing them using a broad palette. Every vessel will vary in shape, surface and color, each one unique. I will fire regularly as I have enough for a kiln load, expecting at least 4 firings in my large gas kiln, the new Rolland kiln and the Kazegama to complete this project. I will be sending pictures and videos of the process so we can all feel connected and share the hope.
When they are all completed, The Village Potters will all gather and pack them to ship. We will randomly label the individual vessels. When you receive your vessel it will be a surprise which one you’ve received. We hope everyone will share an image of the Vessel they received. Locals will be welcome to come by and pick up their vessel. The story about Vessels of Hope and your vessel will be included with each vessel.
My goal is 500 benefactors, people like you who believe in what we are doing at The Village, and who are in a position to help. I am asking for a minimum donation of $100 for each Vessel of Hope. We will take care of shipping, and if you are able and would like to purchase more than one as future gifts, we will arrange individual pick ups or shipping.
These “Vessels of Hope” are a joyous creative pursuit for me personally, and you can be a part. I thank you for your love and support!
Sarah and all The TVP Team!
