Vessels Of Hope: Chapter 2
A Call for Help
It’s time for Chapter 2:
Unfortunately, we are all still dealing with Covid 19 and we all must continue to press into hope! The Village Potters Clay Center is not out of the woods yet. The amazing support we received from the project excited the whole TVPCC team (who are now back to work) to take the torch and carry on the mission with a second round of Vessels of Hope: Chapter 2. The Potters participating are: Lori Theriault, Judi Harwood, Christine Henry, Julia Mann, Tori Motyl and Katie Meili Messersmith.
Chris is making 25 hand built press flowered vases with an inspiring Lady Bird Johnson quote inlayed. If you’d like to support The Village Potters Clay Center and our community during this time check out with one of Chris’s vases today by adding one to the cart. You will be notified prior to pick up or shipping. These pieces are being made now and will take a bit more time to be finished, fired, glazed, fired again, and ready to be in your hands and homes.
“Maya Angelou once said, “When you do nothing you feel overwhelmed and powerless. But when you get involved you feel the sense of hope and accomplishment that comes from knowing you are working to make things better.” Right now it feels like there is an overwhelming amount of uncertainty going on in our personal lives and in the world. Fear of what the future holds can make us feel immobile, stuck. Hope propels us forward. It keeps us moving. Being involved is a way to foster hope, have a sense of purpose, and feel more closely connected to people. We need this even more now in this socially distanced world. We NEED hope. Together let’s do what we can and keep the momentum of hope pushing us forward.” – Christine Henry
Discovering new ways to sustain The Village Potters Clay Center during this season of closure is our primary job now. As Sarah continues to apply for loans and grants and we all choose hope each day. Now that we have reopened and we are all back in the studio we are all hard at work, throwing, handbuilding, carving, and glazing and saggar firing these vessels each unique to each potter. Just as every vessel is unique so is each potter. Watch for demonstrations on our Facebook and Instagram pages where we will be sowing the seeds of hope and sharing our thoughts and our process.
