Throwing with Finesse: Part 1 with Sarah Wells Rolland
Fee: $300
4 two-hour prerecorded class sessions of instruction
Whether you are a professional potter, aspiring to be, or a hobbyist… this class is for you.
Sarah will partner with you on a path of throwing with excellence. The deeper you understand the properties of clay and the nuances of moving clay the more adept and creative you become.
These four sessions are designed to hone your skills and explore how a pot evolves and changes.
Things you will learn:
- Efficient throwing, centering with excellence and using all the clay
- Balancing your rate of pull with wheel speed
- Choking clay successfully without throwing your pot off center
- Increasing your volumes of clay
- Creating handles and attachments that are clean, have balanced negative space, and accents the form.
- Keys to success and how to pull through or correct problems
Each student will be set up to push their skill set beyond their current level.
How the prerecorded online class works:
Sarah will demonstrate several techniques in each session with detailed instruction to help you as you work after the session on your own. We use 3 camera angles to make it possible for you to see closely as she explains her and demonstrates her process. Each session you have a specific assignment with specific goals that will catapult your skillset.
You have the recordings for a full year. This way you can refer back if you encounter problems.
Sarah uses all the clay when throwing and teaches how to begin to develop this skill. Sarah teaches throwing ergonomics so you will not damage your wrists or body over time when making pots. She gives a bonus video of “clay exercises” she designed to help you learn to move clay in every direction.
Whether you are a seasoned beginner or intermediate to advanced potter these sessions will help you become more masterful when working with clay.
These are recordings from live online class sessions.
This class is Part 1 of the two-part Throwing with Finesse series.
Pre-recorded online classes are non refundable. You will have access to each class demonstration recording for one year from the date of purchase. Due to the prerecorded nature of this class/workshop, you will NOT have the opportunity to engage with the instructor as part of this purchase.
