Discovering the intersection between function and art is an exciting pursuit. It is a creative challenge. In this 3 session workshop Sarah will be altering, creating ovals and boats, carving, adding textured slabs, multiple ways attaching handles, throwing and attaching foot rims and bowl rims, slips and darting. All these techniques can add exciting dimensions to a bowl that makes it become even more than a container. A bowl can become a showpiece.
The bowl is the quintessential functional pot but a bowl can also be so much more. The form is accessible to every person and when it moves into an art form it can be a centerpiece in the home. In these three live online session we will explore techniques that will take the bowl into new realms. All these techniques can translate into other forms as well.
We will meet for 2 weeks and then skip a week and then in the third session Sarah will demonstrate a new technique and those who want to can share some of the Bowls they have made.
- We will have a Q&A after every demonstration.
- We use 3 cameras and a noise cancelling microphone so the visual presentation and the audio are excellent. You can watch the recordings on your smart TV too.
- We will share some of our pieces we have made at the end of the last session.
- If the time of the class does not work with your schedule you can view the demonstrations and Q&A at your convenience.
- You will have each class demonstration recording for 1 full year.
