Pots That Pour: Exploring the Pouring Vessel w/ Sarah Wells Rolland
Making Pots that Pour is more complicated than one might think, but they are such a joy to make, use and see. These pots require balance, proportion and functionality. In this class, students will explore traditional pouring vessels and contemporary. They will make pitchers exploring different forms, spouts, handles, foundations and rims treatments. They will make pitchers and teapots. This week will be a challenging and great fun!
Sarah is known for her unique pouring vessels and has made pouring vessels for over thirty years. She says she still “remains completely enamored with all pots that pour.” Students will be inspired by several daily slide presentations of many different types of pouring vessels created by master potters around the world, both historical and contemporary.
Sarah’s teaching always includes skill building techniques. Though this class is not for beginners, seasoned beginners can participate (see skill level description below).
