Kazegama Update: Things are Shaking!

We are gearing up toward our much delayed and much anticipated Inaugural Kazegama Firing!

We sent an update out late 2015 explaining our unforeseen setbacks but we are now moving forward again.

George has almost completed our renovation to our new 2600 square Foot ISM studio with the final project being the kiln room. Lights are going in as we write this and kilns will be installed right behind that.

Then it is back to the Kazegama! Just a few welds and we will put this sweetie together. Our burners are being fabricated by a metalsmith at Haywood Community College and Bryan and Karen Dubois have been processing the wood ash.

The pictures are of Bryan’s wonderful ash screening system built with five gallon buckets, different mesh screens and a sander to shake the ash through.
