Women of Influence: honoring women who shape us
October 12, 2019 @ 10:00 am - December 23, 2019 @ 5:00 pm
Influence is defined as the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something. The six resident potters of The Village Potters Clay Center will honor the women who have made significant impacts on their lives and work with a special exhibit, “Women of Influence: Honoring women who shape us”, that opens on Saturday, October 12 as a part of their annual Multi-Kiln Opening Celebration.
“To give honor to those who have had a significant impact on who we are and who we are becoming is an integral part of our culture at The Village Potters Clay Center,” says TVPCC founder and resident potter Sarah Wells Rolland. “Because we are a group of women who work together each day to create and foster a community built upon the core values of respect, integrity, service, kindness, and excellence, we thought it fitting to honor the women who have sown these values into each of us.”
All works in the exhibit are created in various ways that pay tribute and give voice to the ways in which the women of The Village Potters Clay Center have been influenced by the women in their lives, while exploring the bounds of their own distinct approaches to working with clay.
